Summary |
Purim at BCRC was a very festive event this year! We started with a Megillah reading by Rabbi Amy (and all of the attendees) on the actual date of Purim. Boo Haman! Have you ever joined us to read the entire Book of Esther? If not, try it next year - it is considered a mitzvah to read it on Purim! On Friday we had our traditional Purim spiel. This year we presented "Spooky Purim! - A Musical Purim Shpiel and Erev Shabbat Service (sort of)". Another great show! Why pay those high prices for Broadway when you can get the same level of entertainment at BCRC? Sunday our pre K-7th grade classes first performed one of the important mitzvoth of Purim, giving gifts to the needy ("matanot l'evyonim"), by making bagged lunches to be distributed to a local shelter. That was followed by our Purim carnival, with many fun games, crafts, hamantaschen, and that good ol' BCRC Purim favorite, pizza! Click here to see the photo album (must be logged in for privacy). Thanks to all the volunteers who made this happen!

UAA Questionnaire to Candidates
United Against Antisemitism (UAA), a grass roots organization based in the Washington D.C. area, created a questionnaire on how candidates seeking to run in our Congressional District, and for the US Senate seat for Virginia would respond to the rise of antisemitism we are witnessing.
This is a non-partisan effort, and the questionnaire was sent to all candidates (Democrats and Republicans) running in the primaries for the 10th Congressional District, the seat currently held by Jennifer Wexton who is not running for re-election. Please click here to read full information and to see the responses.
