Summary |
The BCRC Security Committee is now working actively to implement security upgrades for the BCRC facility. We are planning to apply for a FEMA grant program which could provide funding for some significant capital upgrades. One of our major capital upgrades will be new secure front doors integrated with an electronic entry control system. Options such as electronic keypad, badge reader and other state-of-the-art entry systems are being considered. As an interim measure, we have purchased a video doorbell system that will enable us to monitor and control entry to the temple remotely. This will enable us to lock the doors to the temple after services begin and only admit people after screening by the Board Greeter. We are also looking to address other security vulnerabilities through measures such as window security treatments, improved security camera coverage, instituting emergency procedures, and implementing a cost-effective and sustainable security guard coverage plan. While we hope to receive grant funding, we cannot depend on outside sources to meet all of our needs. We will be launching a security fundraising program to help fund both capital and ongoing operational costs. In the meantime please don't wait - make a donation online on the BCRC web page or app. Pick the 'Security Upgrade' donation type. Further updates to come!

UAA Questionnaire to Candidates
United Against Antisemitism (UAA), a grass roots organization based in the Washington D.C. area, created a questionnaire on how candidates seeking to run in our Congressional District, and for the US Senate seat for Virginia would respond to the rise of antisemitism we are witnessing.
This is a non-partisan effort, and the questionnaire was sent to all candidates (Democrats and Republicans) running in the primaries for the 10th Congressional District, the seat currently held by Jennifer Wexton who is not running for re-election. Please click here to read full information and to see the responses.
