Rules for Bar/Bat Mitzvah Service

First welcome the b’nei Mitzvah family and all of their guests, and then explain that ‘Beth Chaverim’ means ‘house of friends’ and that we seek to provide a friendly environment where everyone who joins us feels comfortable and welcome to worship in their own way. To help us maintain this environment, we have just a few rules we ask you to follow. Next, go through the following rules:

  • Turn off or silence cell phones
  • No photography or videography
  • Don’t clap to show appreciation; instead wave hands or rub hands together (there may be clapping in rhythm along with some songs – just follow along).
  • Only enter or leave sanctuary while congregation is seated (look in small window between the entry doors)
  • Please sign along (or hum if you want)
  • No books on floor
  • Explain that Mishkan Tefillah works by page openings – normally we will read 1 prayer per page then move to next page. Rabbi will announce page number when we skip a page or pages.
